Spiros Dionisopoulos

Spiros Dionisopoulos, 82, of Lincoln, R.I., passed away on February 12, at Rhode Island Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones.  He was the husband of 52 years of Mary "Maro" (Garabedian) Dionisopoulos and the devoted and loving father of Dr. Fotini M. Dionisopoulos.

Born in the village of Mpali, near his beloved hometown of Petalidi, Messinia, Greece, Spiros was the youngest son of Theodoros and Fotini (Psefti) Dionisopoulos.

After immigrating to the United States, Spiros was the owner of Spiro's House of Pizza in the 1980’s-1990’s.   He then worked for many years for Bliss Properties, Inc. at the historic Amica Building in Providence, RI.  Spiros loved the camaraderie with the many people he encountered over his working years.

Spiros was predeceased by all of his adored siblings; brothers Paraskevas, Dimitris, Fotios, Ioannis, Dionisis and sisters Vasiliki and Yiorgia. He also leaves many nephews, nieces and cousins here and in Greece.

Locally, Spiros was the brother-in-law of the Honorable Aram G. Garabedian, the late Charles “Hompo” Garabedian and the late Helen Mikitarian.

Spiros leaves behind his best friend, Charles Krikorian of Watertown, MA.  He also cherished the relationship with his loving and loyal neighbors, Doris and the late Peter Mancini, and Geraldine Marcello.

Visiting Hours are scheduled for Saturday, the 17th of February from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM with a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM to which relatives and friends are invited, at the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 97 Walcott Street, Pawtucket, RI.   Burial will follow at North Burial Ground Cemetery in Providence, RI.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Spiros’ memory for charitable and good works can be sent to the St. Barbara Philoptocos Society, c/o Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 97 Walcott Street, Pawtucket, RI 02860.  Please include in the Memo: “Restricted in Memory of Spiros Dionisopoulos”.
