62, of North Smithfield, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 7, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Lisa A. (DeAngelis) Capracotta. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Stephen A. Capracotta and Maureen B. (Leyden) Capracotta.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving children, Stephen M. Capracotta and his wife Laura Damon, Alyssa L. Capracotta, and Gianna N. Capracotta; and his dear sisters, Susan M. Nassi and her husband Vincenzo, and Sharon A. Ciolli (wife of the late Anthony Ciolli).
Stephen proudly served with the Providence Fire Department for 36 years, having graduated from the 40th Training Academy. Throughout his career, he rose through the ranks to retire as Deputy Assistant Chief. He was deeply respected by his colleagues for his leadership, dedication, and steady presence — always leading by example and with heart. His decades of service reflected his lifelong commitment to protecting and helping others.
Outside of work, Stephen lived life with joy and humor. A proud New England Patriots fan, he rarely missed a game. He enjoyed trips to the casino, always optimistic win or lose, and was known as the “grill master” at every gathering. In the summertime, he found peace boating — whether out at sea or relaxing at the dock surrounded by loved ones.
Above all else, Stephen loved being a dad. His children were his greatest pride and joy, and he never missed a chance to support them, celebrate their accomplishments, or simply spend time together. He also loved being an uncle to his many nieces and nephews, who adored his humor, warmth, and encouragement. His family meant everything to him, and his love, laughter, and presence will be forever remembered by all who knew him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, November 17th at 10:00 a.m. in St. Augustine’s Church, Providence. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 16th from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Nardolillo Funeral Home & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston. Burial will be private.
