Stephen Ceseretti, 82, of Cranston, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 18, 2025, with his family by his side. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Achille and Mary (Ferruolo) Ceseretti. He was the beloved husband of Carol (Hardy) Ceseretti for 60 years.
He graduated from Bryant University. Prior to his retirement, Stephen was employed by US Airways (formerly Allegheny Airlines) for thirty years. In retirement, he and his wife spent their winters in Florida and Arizona.
He was a longtime youth and high school basketball and baseball coach. Stephen coached boys' basketball and baseball at Bishop Hendricken High School, as well as at Our Lady of Providence, winning many games and championships. He also coached women’s basketball at CCRI.
His passion for coaching extended beyond the school gymnasium — he was also the proud owner of Best Hoops Basketball Camp for over twenty years.
He coached countless student-athletes, many of whom went on to play at every level of collegiate athletics. A well-respected leader, mentor, and role model, he was a father figure to many student-athletes and coaches. Stephen will be remembered for his unwavering kindness, tireless dedication, and the positive impact he left on generations of athletes and students.
He also enjoyed playing golf and was an avid Yankees fan.
Most of all, he was a wonderful husband, father, brother, uncle and loving Papa.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his devoted children: Stephen Ceseretti, Jr., Mark Ceseretti and his wife Karen, and Kerri Ceseretti Thoren. He was the loving grandfather of Isabella, Briana, Patsy, Lily, Grace, Kailey, Dani, Brady, and David. He was the dear brother of Maria Simonelli and her husband Frank. He was predeceased by his son, Greg Ceseretti.
His funeral will leave at 9:15 am on Thursday, July 24, 2025, from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am at St. Rocco Church, 927 Atwood Ave., Johnston. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery. VISITING HOURS will be Wednesday from 4:00 -8:00pm. In lieu of flowers donation in his memory can be made to the Hope Alzheimer’s Center , Cranston, R. I.
