Steven A. DeCubellis

Steven A. DeCubellis, known affectionately as "Deco," was born on July 9, 1965, in Providence Rhode Island, and passed away unexpectedly on October 12, 2025, in Chepachet, Rhode Island. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and an unwavering dedication to those around him.

Steven's career began as a master carpenter, building his first house at 21 years old for his then wife Paula, and son Steve Jr. He went on to make a name for himself in carpentry, running his own business where he built custom homes in Rhode Island and Connecticut. Steven also continued the DeCubellis legacy by owning and operating A&D Auto, an auto shop that offered car sales and mechanic services. In both professions, he built a reputation for his exceptional work ethic and generosity. In many instances, Steven often provided repair services free of charge to those in need, a testament to his ingrained desire to help others.

Family was the cornerstone of Steven's life, always taking precedence over everything else. He was the provider for his family and loved every minute of taking care of his family while proudly watching his son grow up to become an adult. His heart was as expansive as his smile, which could light up any room. He found joy in the simplest of gestures—whether it was brightening someone’s day with a cleverly timed joke or a small act of kindness. His friends and family cherished his unmatched sense of humor and the warmth that he exuded.

Examples of this were in his younger years when he ran a Christmas tree stand for the Christmas season and drove a hay-filled trailer around the neighborhood during many Halloweens for his son and his friends to go trick-or-treating, both of which were filled with memories his son will always fondly remember and cherish. He also was an avid Indian Motorcycle enthusiast, traveling yearly to Laconia and Daytona for bike weeks. In the trials motorcycling world, he was the Expert Class New England Champion for multiple years and was always extremely proud of the accomplishments he achieved.

Steven is survived by his beloved son, Steven A. DeCubellis, Jr., his daughter-in-law Theresa, and his cherished granddaughter, Lena Alice DeCubellis. He leaves behind his mother, Sandra (Jardin) DeCubellis, his father, Alfred DeCubellis, as well as his fiancé Joyce Colantonio. Also surviving him is his brother, Frederick DeCubellis, sister-in-law Melinda, brother, Alfred DeCubellis, Jr., sister-in-law, Holly, and sister, Robin DeCubellis. He was predeceased by his sister, Sharon Gervin. Steven also shared many memories with his cousins, Albert Parente, John Macedonio and John Danella, who were more like brothers to him, along with all of the nieces and nephews part of his life. His faithful dog and companion, Deeko, was also part of his joyous life.
