Suzanne M. Townsend

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Suzanne M. Townsend, 71, of South Kingstown, who peacefully departed on June 11, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Providence, the first daughter of nine children to the late Everett and Marie (Archambault) Townsend. Suzanne graduated from St. Xavier High School. She spent many years contracting for The Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport where she had met lifelong friends. She was a communicant of Christ the King Church where she often volunteered. She enjoyed crafting with her sisters, painting with her daughter, embroidering the cherished Thanksgiving tablecloth with her granddaughter and attending her grandson’s sporting events. She also loved baking delicious treats for family, sharing her love for sweets. These activities were not just hobbies but precious opportunities to bond and create lasting memories together. Above all, Suzanne's heart overflowed with pride and joy and spending time with her five grandchildren and great-granddaughter. Their presence surely brought light and laughter into her life. She leaves her two children, Neil R. Townsend and his devoted wife Kelly of Westerly and Aimee T. O’Connor and her adoring husband Ryan of South Kingstown; six cherished sisters with whom she shares a strong emotional bond, Michelle Bucci of Exeter, Gisele Smith of Moosup, CT, Jacqueline Warren of West Warwick, Colleen Archetto of Exeter, Melanie Howard of North Kingstown and Lynn Cunniff of Scituate; her loving grandchildren, Tyler and Hayley Townsend, Kyle, Jack and Riley O’Connor; a great-granddaughter, Phoebe Townsend. She also leaves behind a legacy of love for her countless nieces, nephews and caring brother-in-laws. She now reunites with her beloved brothers, Robert and Peter Townsend. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at 11am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory – SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Road, Narragansett followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Noon in Christ the King Church, 180 Old North Road, Kingston.
