Born July 11, 1923 to a warm and large extended family living in the North End of Providence. Loving son to (late) Thomas and Amelia (Caldarone) Falciglia and brother to (late) Edna Falciglia Panaggio, Tommy always valued the importance of family. It is from family he developed a generosity of spirit and practice that he extended to all who knew him, including friends and colleagues. His business acumen was tied to various positions held at his alma mater, University of Rhode Island, including Director of Alumni Affairs, Director of Community Relations, and Coordinator for Admissions Recruiting and Promotion. He had also been employed as Director of Development at Roger Williams University . Tommy was particularly proud to have helped establish the URI Foundation and the URI Century Club and been inducted into the URI Athletic Hall of Fame. He was also instrumental in helping URI acquire the land for the W. Alton Jones Campus.
Tommy was blessed with the companionship of three wives in his life. (late) Ellen Morton Falciglia 2012-2020, (late) Marian Craven Falciglia 1963-2004, and (late) Beverly Bruce Falciglia 1948-1954. He was the proud father of daughter (late) Judith (Judy) Falciglia Turchetta and son-in-law (late) Sandy Turchetta.
To know Tommy was to know an avid enthusiast of music. He attended the New England Conservatory of Music 1944-1948 to study Music and Instrumental (Trombone) Instruction. He was a talented trombonist who played with numerous orchestras and bands across New England for over 70 years, including his own, “The Right Note” orchestra and the “Tommy Fal and the Tomcats” orchestra. He was a member of the Providence Federation of Musicians for 70 years, the Rhode Island Wind Ensemble for 15 years, the Boston Federation of Musicians for 4 years, The Bel Canto Opera Co. Orchestra, The Providence Opera Co., The Providence Youth Orchestra, and The Barker Players, Providence, RI.
Tom spent his remaining days at the Cedar Crest Nursing Home in Cranston. His surviving nieces, nephew and cousins are grateful for the compassionate care he received from the staff.
At 99 years old, his family is happy that he will reunite with many departed, beloved friends and family that have passed before him. He lived a good, full life and will be remembered fondly.
