passed away on July 26, 2026 at age 97 in Briarclif Manor, New York. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ann Lancia (Carbone), his son, Thomas, his daughter in-law Nancy and his grandson Nicholas. He was born on November 19, 1928, the son of Bernardino and Annunziata (Gelfuso) Lancia of Cranston, Rhode Island, one of eleven siblings, including eight brothers and three sisters.
Tom graduated from Cranston High School and served in the United States Army Air Corps from 1946-1950, as a technical sergeant. In 1957, he graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a degree in Electrical Engineering.
After marrying Ann in 1957 he was hired as an engineer by Bell Labs (AT&T) in New Jersey. He then worked for the Discrete Semiconductor Division of General Instrument Corp. in Woonsocket, Rhode Island and then Hicksville, New York, for 35 years, retiring as Director of Worldwide Operations in 1994.
Tom enjoyed woodworking, tinkering with electronics, his family, and of course, coffee ice cream, a pint of which he enjoyed on the day he passed.
Visitation will be held in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Friday, August 14, 2026 from 10:00 – 11:00 am, with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 am. Inurnment will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
