74, of Marcello St., Providence, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2014 at RI Hospital in Providence surrounded by his children. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Thomas and Virginia (Gallone) Scorpio.
He was the owner and operator for over 30 years of Tom Spa on the corner of Knight St. and Gesler St. in Providence until 1997 and then worked in the Mail Room at Providence City Hall, retiring in 2006. Tom was a member of Local 1033; past member of the Providence Zoning Board of Review; past chairman of the Providence Ward 13 Republican Committee; a member of the Knights of Columbus; and a member of the Sons of Italy.
Tom was the devoted father of Thomas Scorpio, III and his wife Stefanie and Virginia S. Solomon and her husband Peter, all of Cranston; loving grandfather of Peter Jr., Jenna, Chelsea, Fallon, Victoria and Thomas IV; and dear brother of Connie Tarro of East Greenwich, Irene Cahalane of Brewster, MA, Ann Augaitis of West Greenwich, Rita Scorpio of Reston, VA, Arthur Scorpio of The Villages, FL, Janis Scorpio of Madison, VA and Dr. Ronald Scorpio of Danville, PA. Tom also leaves his dear friend Eileen Covais of Providence.
Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Wednesday at 8:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. George Maronite Catholic Church (formerly St. Ann Church), 1493 Cranston St., Cranston at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS are Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
