62, of Cranston, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2015 at Miriam Hospital in Providence. He was the husband of the late Dona (Schaffner) Silvestri. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Giacomo and Clara (Tomasso) Silvestri.
He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School, CCRI and had attended RIC. He was employed as a residential & commercial appraiser and had also been a part time employee of the Providence Journal for 25 years.
Tom was a member of the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials for more than 30 years, a member of the RI Softball Association for 35 years and held the office of President for 10 years, Umpire-in-Chief of RI Pony Softball, Evaluator & Umpire in ECAC college softball, ASA softball umpire for 30 years and timekeeper at PC, Brown University and Bryant University during regular season and Big East Women's timekeeper for Conference Tournament.
Thomas is survived by his two sons, Thomas A. and Mark J. Silvestri, both of Cranston. He was the brother of John E. Silvestri and his wife Virginia of North Providence, Robert A. Silvestri and his wife Patricia of Providence, and the late Richard G. Silvestri. He was the brother-in-law of Grace Silvestri of North Providence. Thomas also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins.
His funeral will be held from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Paul's Church, Cranston at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS are Tuesday 4:00-8:00 p.m.
