Thomas "Tom" D. Della Torre, MD

84, of Providence, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 2, 2026. He was the devoted and beloved husband of Grazia (Pareti) Della Torre for 56 beautiful years.

Born in Providence to the late Thomas and Nancy (Giordano) Della Torre, Tom was a proud graduate of Classical High School and Providence College. He earned his medical degree from the University of Bologna in 1968, where he not only embraced the rich Italian culture he would cherish for the rest of his life, but also met the love of his life, Grazia. He also proudly served his country as a Captain in the United States Army Reserve Medical Corps from 1971 to 1977.

For more than forty years, Dr. Della Torre practiced as a compassionate ear, nose, and throat physician and surgeon at RI ENT. Patients and colleagues alike remembered him for his clinical skill, surgical expertise, and—most of all—his genuine warmth and heartfelt care. His larger-than-life personality, boundless generosity, deep faith, and quick humor touched countless lives.

Above all, Tom was a man who lived with passion and joy. An accomplished jazz pianist, he filled his home with soulful music that brought energy and delight to every gathering. He loved hosting family around his pool and at lively dinners, where his enthusiasm made every moment feel vibrant and alive. He approached each day with a smile, a story, and an open heart.

Tom’s greatest treasure was his family. He placed Grazia and their children at the very center of his world, creating a warm, loving home filled with faith, laughter, and unwavering devotion.

In addition to his beloved wife Grazia, he is survived by his loving children:

Patricia “Tica” Della Torre and her husband David Burke of Stamford, CT;

Elizabeth “Betty” Reger and her husband John of North Andover, MA;

and Thomas “Tommy” Della Torre, MD, and his wife Laura of Smithfield.

He was the cherished grandfather of Michael Burke, Thomas, Giulia, and Matthew Della Torre, and James and Victoria Reger. He is also survived by his sister Elena Belluso and her husband Ricardo of Warwick, along with many cherished nieces and nephews.
