Victoria M (Hamlin) Rashid entered into eternal peace on September 16th 2024 after a long battle with illness. She was the loving daughter of the late David F and Elizabeth E (Crook) Hamlin. She was a devoted Catholic, a God Mother and aunt of David E Hamlin .She was also the aunt of Shane and Richard Hamlin as well as an adopted aunt of Sofia and Bella Monti. In addition she was a great aunt of Ava, Neal, Kylie (Morse) and Meadow Hamlin. She was a loving sister of both Sandra And Millie (Monti) Hamlin.
She was born on July 28, 1965 in Pawtucket Rhode Island. She burst forth into the arms of a Navy Veteran and a Catholic graduate of Saint Joseph’s school for LPN’s and perhaps that was why she was a very precocious , creative , and analytic lady of technology. She was a Navy Brat who loved Dunkin Donuts, Music, Good Food , a plethora of Providence food trucks and ,naturally ,settled contracts.
She attended Central High School but Cancer forced her to graduate as a Home Instruction kid . She attended Rhode Island College but left early to pursue her first creative attempt at the adult work force as a Providence Marriott food service expert. There she learned the art of cooking for thousands of Providence school kids but the lure of sales and customer service would become her real calling .
Her first experience into the world began when she was hired at East Providence’s Cherry and Webb as an image maker adorning aspiring professionals and Rosie the Riverters alike! She used that position to springboard into the Bureau of Business Practice . There she learned the power of sales and the beauty of video production for training thousands of professionals in need of demonstrations of mastery in vocations and technology .
But the opportunity to meaningfully grow occurred when in 1998 she passed the Verizon exam and entered verizon as an Anna Looney trainee. Her compassion for the customer, personality and willingness to grow was the reason she evolved and captured so many customers, hearts and colleagues for over 25 years .
Victoria had a life beyond Verizon though and it was both a calling and a mission . Her mission to serve her lord was critical , giving her meaning beyond earth’s frivolities . The younger lady served as a lecturer for Saint Pius but the older child became a devote spiritual healer who spent hours steeped in prayer for the healing of the sick, dead and suffering and had a heart of gold . Often she would say “ok is an understatement. Sandy it’s time for copral acts of Mercy and we would end up
Donating time, items or prayers for those who were less fortunate and it would give her that peace of mind so few ever have the pleasure of experiencing . But she was our little Irish sprit , yes a little fairy who fluttered through and was Nationally Recognized by the Library of Congress as a poet , and loving family member.
To state she will be miss would be an understatement . There is only one Victoria who roared into the battles of illness with the cloak of Padre Pio sheltering her passage. She was unselfish , always smiled even in her darkest hours -“See you tomorrow Vicky was always followed by a soft whisper of “ I love you “ which forever more will be whispered on the winds of eternal memories.
Her funeral will leave at 9:15 am, on Monday September 23, 2024, from NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at St. Augustine’s Church, 20 Old Rd., Providence, RI 02908. Followed by entombment at St. Ann Cemetery. VISITING HOURS will be held on Sunday from 3:00 -6:00pm.
