Vincent J. 'Shorty' Ardente

98, of Cranston, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Morgan Health Center, Johnston. He was the beloved husband of the late Gertrude L. (Carrier) Ardente. Born in Johnston, he was a son of the late Rocco and Philomena (DelDuca) Ardente. Shorty was a grounds keeper for the former Narragansett Race Track for twenty-five years. He was also employed in the construction industry until his retirement. Shorty was a former member of Valley Country Club for many years and a member of Union Local #271. He was an US Army veteran serving during WW II. He is survived by two sisters Mary Tanzi and Pasqualina "Patsy" Marcella, both of Johnston. He was the brother of the late Armando, Rocco, and Mario Ardente, Elizabeth St. Hilare, and Ann D'Antuono. Shorty is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Rocco Church, 927 Atwood Avenue, Johnston. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Kindly omit flowers.
