Vincent E. 'Mickey' Hurley

86 years old, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on February 20, 2016.
He was the beloved husband for over 64 years of Irene J. (Simoes) Hurley, son of the late Mary (Green) Hurley Pavia and Walter E. Hurley, and brother of the late Jean Bowlin and Patrice Stratton.
At just 21 years old, Vincent proudly enlisted in the U.S. Army, in which he received a purple heart for his military service on the battlefield in Company A, The 5th Cavalry Regiment, during the Korean War. His unparalleled work ethic as an artistic engraver led to the founding of Artcraft, Inc., and Arcadia Embossing Co.
Vincent cherished his son, Vincent "Micky" Hurley; daughters and their husbands, Donna and Stephen Saccoccia, Brenda and Richard Lynch, and Debra and Wayne Connetti; and granddaughters, Christine Iannella, Jacqueline Connetti and Jennifer Valentino.
Known to his grandchildren as "Gampy", he took great joy in being a grandfather and spending time with family. He was a lover of words, a wildlife photographer and enthusiast, and valued the beauty of nature. Vincent was most known for his comedic expressions, quick wit, lightheartedness and incomparable sense of humor. His everlasting love for life and laughing was contagious and with that he left an indelible impression on everyone he met. We are proud to call him "Our Hero" and he will be profoundly missed.
Those close to his heart are asked to commemorate Vincent's life by telling a joke or rekindling a funny memory in his honor.
His funeral service will be held on Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, followed by burial with military honors in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours are Friday from 8:15 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Wildlife Rehabilitators Association of Rhode Island, 240 Shermantown Road, Saunderstown, RI 02874.
