Vincent "Vinny" Richards

Vincent “Vinny” Richards, 96 of Cranston passed away peacefully with his family by his side Saturday, April 29, 2023. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Antonio and Concetta “Mary” (D’Amore) Richards. He was the beloved husband of Carol (Iacono) Russo Richards.  He was predeceased by his first wife Nancy (Previte) Richards.

Vinny proudly served his country during WWII, in the US Army. His service to his country was near and dear to his heart.  His family came first and foremost, before anything. He doted on his grandchildren and great grandchildren, his love for all of them was second to none. He and Carol were avid travelers and loved to camp. Vinny could often be found tending to his gardens, occasionally helping in the kitchen for his famous eggplant, or enjoying one of Carol’s homecooked meals. He was well loved by all that met him and will be missed by many. He was a member of the Kelly Gazzero VFW Post # 2812.

Besides his wife he was the cherished father of Anthony Richards and his wife Janice, Vincent Richards, Jr., Nancy McGetrick and her husband Mark, James A. Russo, Sr., Gina M. Russo and her husband Steven, Stephanie L. Reinsant and her husband Matthew, and his former daughter-in-law Margaret Richards. He was the beloved grandfather of fifteen grandchildren, and the great grandfather of eight. He was the loving brother of Mary Bator and her husband Stanley, Josphine Miale and her late husband Richard, the beloved brother-in-law of Antonetta Condon, Elaine Gates and her husband John, Diana DiMente, Barbara Pollock and her husband Michael, and Rose Previte. He was predeceased by his brothers Americo Richards and his wife Mildred and Lewis Richards and his wife Molly. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday May 4, 2023, at 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 237 Garden Hills Drive, Cranston. Everyone is asked to go directly to the church. Burial with full military honors will be at St. Ann Cemetery. VISITING HOURS will be held Wednesday from 4:00- 7:00 pm at the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave. Cranston. Donations in his memory can be made to Shiner’s Childrens Hospital, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114. Many thanks to all the nurses, CNA’s and staff at the Scandinavian Nursing Home
