Virginia (Barsamian) Hazian

VIRGINIA HAZIAN, age 92, on April 13, 2023. As a beautiful spring morning dawned, Virginia Hazian passed away into eternal life. Born on January 10, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Sumpat “George” and Siranoush (Avakian) Barsamian and the beloved wife of the late Vartkas Paul Hazian for almost 30 years. Virginia was also the sister of the late Atty. Walter Barsamian (Joan) of Irvine, CA.

She is survived by her three sons; David John, Gregory Paul (Debra), and John Richard, and was a central figure in all of their lives. She adored her grandchildren, Paul John and Julia Susan Hazian, and could always be found cheering them on at their football, baseball, softball, and basketball games. She also leaves her nieces and nephews in Rhode Island and California.

A graduate of Katherine Gibbs School, Virginia worked at the Rhode Island Department of Human Services until her retirement in 2009. She also worked at Narragansett Wire, Microfibers, and the Outlet Company in Garden City.

She was an active member of the Armenian Euphrates Evangelical Church in Cranston, where she made many close friends. Active and energetic until the last months of her life, Virginia enjoyed walking, gardening, reading, playing cards with her friends, and traveling. She visited many U.S. states and national parks, Europe’s capitals, and Jerusalem, Egypt, and Armenia.

She loved being with her family, celebrating holidays and birthdays, and would always help a friend in need. Virginia will be missed by all who loved her.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 19th at 10 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, followed by a Funeral Service at the Armenian Evangelical Church, Cranston at 11 a.m. Burial will be at North Burial Ground, Providence.  VISITING HOURS are Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
