Wayne A. LaBore, DDS

a distinguished dentist, dedicated Naval officer, and cherished family man, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 12, 1942, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, he lived a life marked by service, commitment, and an unwavering devotion to those he loved.

Dr. LaBore earned his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Fairfield University before pursuing his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the prestigious Georgetown University School of Dentistry. His professional journey was one of exceptional dedication, beginning with his 21 years of service in the United States Navy. Serving aboard the USS Grand Canyon, USS Albany, and USS Iowa, as well as spending four years stationed in Gaeta, Italy, he demonstrated both skill and leadership, ultimately retiring with the rank of Commander. Following his active duty, he contributed his expertise at the Naval War College before establishing a private dental practice first in Middletown and later in Newport.

Throughout his life, Dr. LaBore was known not only for his professional accomplishments but also for his vibrant personality and varied interests. He was an avid enthusiast of both traditional and spear fishing, scuba diving, boating, running, and gardening. Renowned among friends and family for his culinary talents, he took great joy in cooking and entertaining for numerous friends and family. He treasured his role as "Papa," delighting in the company of his grandchildren and imparting his warmth, wisdom, and humor to them. He had endless stories having traveled the world serving our country including caring for less fortunate patients in Central and South America. Dr. LaBore’s proudest accomplishments were undeniably his family and his devoted service to his country and community; pillars of his life that reflected his deepest values.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Rosemary (DeVivo) LaBore; his children Margret (LaBore) Anthony and her husband Robert of Cheshire, Connecticut; Anthony C. LaBore, II and his wife Laurie (Delmenico) LaBore of Saunderstown; Wayne A. LaBore, Jr. and his wife Jennifer (Cote) LaBore, also of Saunderstown; and Katie (LaBore) Leonard of Granby, Connecticut. He was the beloved grandfather to Bobby, Nicholas, and Christine Anthony; Valerie, Alexandra, Wayne A. III, Gabriella, and Daniel LaBore; and Madelynne Leonard. He also shared an incredible bond with his beloved dog, Mate, a known celebrity at his dental office and around Newport. 

Additionally, he is mourned by his sisters Lynne Zielski and her husband Joseph of Cheshire, Connecticut, and Andrea LaBore of Maui, Hawaii.Wayne was preceded in death by his son, Daniel C. LaBore, and his parents, Anthony C. and Margaret Madelynne (Krehel) LaBore.

VISITING HOURS will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026 from 11am-2pm, followed by a funeral service with Military Honors at 2pm in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory - SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Road, (Rt. 1A), Narragansett.
