72, of Lincoln, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA, surrounded by his loving family. Billy was the cherished husband of Joyce Amelia (Scungio) Martin. Born in Providence, he was a son to the late William H. and Margaret A. (Finnegan) Martin, Sr. Mr. Martin began his working career with the Providence Journal. As a young boy, he drove a motor paper route from Johnston to Scituate, every morning. While working in the circulation department at the Providence Journal, he was offered a distributorship in the former Warren News Service, at the age of twenty five. From then, Billy has worked as a high-end automobile consultant, until his passing.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his two adoring daughters, Michele Martin of Lincoln and Dr. Joyce Martin of Hope. Billy was the committed, loyal and dedicated grandfather of Daniel Martin Gauvin, William John Martin Rinaldi, and Jack Martin Beckett. He was their father, grandfather and best friend. Billy was the brother of Glenn T. Martin and his wife Paula of Warwick. Mr. Martin was known to be an extremely hard worker and a very wise man. His number one priority was his family.
Mr. Martin's funeral will be held from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Saturday at 8:30 a.m., followed by his Mass of Christian Burial, in which his family and friends are kindly invited, in the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, 30 Fenner Street, Providence at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be private.
