William B. Mitchell
74, of Fox Drive, Narragansett, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2015 at the South County Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, North Kingstown. He was the beloved husband of Barbara (Busby) Mitchell. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Quinn) Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell was a detective with the Providence Police Department for over 20 years; and also worked for the US Federal Marshalls Service Court Security, Providence for over 17 years until his retirement. William was a 45 year member of the F.O.P., a 40 year member of the Elks and was a graduate of LaSalle Academy, Providence.
Besides his wife, he was the father of William B. Mitchell Jr. of Scituate, Charlotte Jarest of North Providence, Cheryl Gauvin of Glocester, Robert "Rob" Thompson of Sugarland, TX, John Thompson of East Greenwich, Scott Thompson of Cranston, Michael J Farina of Cranston, Melissa Farina of Houston, TX and the late Christopher J. Mitchell. Brother of Margaret "Peggy" Martins of Cranston, 16 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 8:45 am from the Nardolillo Funeral Home, SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Road, (Rt1a) Narragansett, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary, Star of the Sea Church, 864 Point Judith Road, Narragansett at 10:00am. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS: Tuesday 4-8pm.
