William "Bill" E. Benson

74, of Cranston, passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at Briarcliffe Manor, Johnston. He was the beloved husband of Leslie (Marinelli) Benson for 20 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late William and Evelyn “June” (Pilkington) Benson.

Bill graduated from Scituate High School in 1967, played 4 years of football and was named captain of the team. After graduating Scituate High School, he attended Providence College where he received his bachelor's degree. Bill was the credit and collections manager for American Insulated Wire for over 30 years before retiring. Later in his life Bill became a realtor for Century 21 for about 10 years. He was a past president of the Seekonk Lion’s Club. William and Leslie just celebrated their 20th Wedding Anniversary this past December. Bill was an avid sports fan, lover of history, and genealogy.

Besides his wife Leslie, Bill is survived by his loving son Matthew Benson and his wife Melissa Rose Benson of Seekonk, MA. He was the cherished grandfather of Elijah Benson of Brooklyn, NY and Tyler Benson of Riverside, RI.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 1st, at 9:00 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary Church, Cranston. Burial will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS: Monday from 4:00-7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Amyloidosis Foundation, 7151 North Main Street, Suite 2, Clarkston, MI 48346, to fund research for treatment and cure for Amyloidosis www.amyloidosis.org, or to Health Well Foundation, 20440 Century Blvd Suite 250, Germantown, MD 20874, provides grants to those with rare diseases to help pay for their medication.
