Anna Moretti Obituary
94, of Cranston, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, May 12, 2023 at Briarcliff Manor, Johnston. Anna was the daughter of late Luigi and Nicolena (Romano) Scorpio. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Anthony Moretti.
Anna grew up in the family home on America Street in Federal Hill. She was the youngest of 15 children.
Anna was the sister of the late Mary, Clementina, Anna, Michael, Emilio, Augusto, Ralph, Fred, Frank, Louie, Antonio, Albert, Joe & Eugene. Sister-in-law of Christine Tarvis & husband Joe.
She lived on Federal Hill for 70 years before moving to Cranston with her husband, Joe and sister Mary. Always one to speak her mind, she would often be heard calling her favorite radio station, The John DePetro Show. She was known to her listeners as “Anna from Cranston.”
Anna is a graduate of Central High School and Bryant University. Anna worked for the RI Department of Health in the Epidemiology Office for 40 years before retiring.
Her family was everything to her. She was known to her family as Aunty Anna for her many nieces and nephews. She was known for making Italian Christmas cookies for her family for the holiday season and passed down the family recipe of her famous pickle peppers. Anna was always ready to join family and friends for shopping at Macy’s.
The family would like to thank the staff at Briarcliff Preserve where she lived for the past 2 years for the excellent care and compassion.
Anna will be deeply missed by all her family.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 17th, at 11:00 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. in St. Mary Church, Cranston. Burial will be held in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
