Biagio J. Pezza

92, of Cranston, passed away on Wednesday September 13, 2017 at Riverview Nursing Home, Coventry. He was the beloved husband of the late Viola (Mallane) Pezza. They were married for over 70 years, she was the love of his life. Born in Cranston, he was the son of the late Francesco and Frances (DiNola) Pezza. Mr. Pezza worked as a superintendent for the City of Cranston Highway Department for 30 years until his retirement. He was also a WW II Army veteran. Biagio was a charter member of the St. Mary’s Feast Society, a member of the Kelly Gazzero VFW Post and was awarded the Bronze Star , Double Bronze Star and a Presidential citation. Biagio always held family to his heart and will be missed greatly by family and friends.

He is survived by his sons David Pezza and his wife Gayle of Coventry, Anthony M. Pezza and his wife Michele of Cranston, his sister Edith Toti of Cranston. He was   affectionately known as “Poppie” to his 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Biagio was the father of the late Frank J. Pezza and brother of the late Michael Pezza, Lena Ruggieri, Theresa Stravato and Nancy Iannucci.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10 am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory 1278 Park Ave., Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. Mary’s Church, Cranston. Burial with military honors will take place in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS: Tuesday morning 8:30-10 am.
