passed away on January 26, 2023. She was the wife of the late William Valcarenghi. She was a lifelong resident of Rhode Island, and the daughter of Caroline and Morris Scanlon. Caroline was an educator who received degrees in Mathematics, Education, and Computer Science from Rhode Island and Rhode Island Junior Colleges. She first taught mathematics in the Rhode Island school system, and then changed her career to Computer Science and was employed at the Providence Washington Insurance Company where she became director of her I. T. department until her retirement.
She served numerous leadership roles within the PTA. Oil painting was one of her many joys as a young adult. She was also a 4H-Club leader. At the same time, she developed a strong interest in farm life which included raising barn animals such as goats, sheep, chickens, and horses. One of her joys was riding her favorite horse, Midnight.
Later in life, she found joy traveling the world to many destinations such as countries in Europe, Alaska, Canada, Hawaii.
Caroline will be dearly missed by her 5 sons Michael, Conrad, Robert, Karl, and Joseph Steiner. She leaves behind 8 grandchildren Jonathan, Christopher, Katherine, Tyler, Joslyn, Jacqueline, Karuna, Somrith and also 8 great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Robert, Edward and William Scanlon.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at 9am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Mary Church, 1525 Cranston Street, Cranston. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery. VISITING HOURS Monday 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N.
