Edward Renola Obituary

74, Narragansett, passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018, peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family.  He was the beloved husband of Karen (Feeney) Renola for 51 years.  Born in Newport, Edward was a son to the late Carmine and Virginia (Saulino) Renola.  He was a proud graduate of LaSalle Academy, The University of Rhode Island (BS Advanced Mathematics), and the American University (Masters).  Mr. Renola was an US Air Force officer, serving during the Vietnam era. He contributed to the success of the Apollo program by working on the communications systems used by the astronauts.

Ed had a long and distinguished career as an executive in the semiconductor and electronics industry having worked for companies Texas Instruments, Fairchild, Motorola, and Analog Devices and Vitramon. At 42, he became a corporate officer and Executive Vice President, Global Sales and Marketing of AVX Corporation. Most recently he was the President of Micro Technology Group in Mansfield , MA.

Ed was most enthusiastic about his family. He enjoyed spending family time together at the beach and the Great Salt Pond and in Vermont. He loved listening to Jimmy Buffet, sitting under his willow tree relaxing in his swing, and spending time on the pond. Ed was always smiling, was an inspiration to others, led by example and was someone you could always count on for solid counsel and guidance

Besides his wife, Edward is survived by his loving children, Matthew Renola and his wife Beth of Longmeadow, MA, and Michael Renola and his wife Trish of Boston, MA.  He was the cherished grandfather of Sarah, Charlotte, Quinn, and Austin Renola.  Edward was the dear brother of Jean Boshco, Susan Rozzero, and the late Anthony Renola.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 9:45 a.m. from the Nardolillo Funeral Home & Crematory, SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Road (Rt. 1A), Narragansett, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Church, Narragansett at 11:00 a.m.  Burial, with military honors, will take place in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.  VISITING HOURS: Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Wounded Warriors, PO BOX 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517.
