Gino Marchetti

89, of Cranston, passed away on December 14, 2020, at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Arlene (Castronovo) Marchetti to whom he was married for 68 years.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Antonio and Donata (Nappi) Marchetti.

Gino was a building contractor who at 19 years old owned and operated Marchetti Construction. He built many homes in Rhode Island and also worked with various construction firms throughout his career. He was a member of Local 57 and for many years, was a heavy equipment operator. A veteran of the United States Army, Gino was stationed in Okinawa.

When his sons David and Donald opened Marchetti’s Restaurant in 1982, his focus became helping to build their business. Gino was known for working harder and longer than anyone. He was the first one at the restaurant every morning for 38 years. His sons credit their dad with being the motivation behind its success. He was a dedicated father who did as much as he could to make their lives easier. His love, strength and guidance will never be forgotten and the lessons he instilled will transcend generations. His family cherished him and he will be forever missed.

Gino was an artist who enjoyed drawing and oil painting. He was a finished carpenter who could fix and build anything - a true craftsman. He loved golfing, boating, flying his twin engine Cessna and spending time in Naples, Florida. Above all, his greatest joy was being with his family.

Gino is survived by his wife, Arlene and his loving children: David Marchetti and his wife Nikki, Donald Marchetti and his wife Denise and Susan Marchetti Patrick; his cherished grandchildren: Lauren Marchetti-Boyle and her husband Joseph, David Marchetti Jr. and his wife Alexandra, Michael Marchetti, Macie Marchetti, Matthew Marchetti, Thomas Patrick, Trevor Patrick, Gianna DelCioppio and Steven Moretti; his great grandson: Logan Boyle; his dear sister: Concetta “Dolly” Ortis.
