James R. Godena, Sr.

81, of Jamestown passed away peacefully on March 15, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was the beloved husband of Joanne (Vietri) Godena for sixty-one years.

Born in Newport, he was a son of the late Joseph and Theresa Godena.

Jim worked for General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton for twenty-eight years. He worked for Jamestown Hardware before working at EB and worked at Damon’s Hardware after his retirement.

He was an avid gardener and enjoyed traveling.  He was a member of the Portuguese American Citizens Club and the Holy Ghost Society.

Besides his wife, he leaves two children, Denise A. Jennings and her husband William of Jamestown and James R. Godena, II and his partner Pat Levesque Vaillancourt of Fall River, MA; and three grandchildren, Danielle Jennings, Nicholas Godena and Benjamen Jennings. He was the brother of the late Joseph A. Godena, Jr.

His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at 12pm in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory-SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Road, (Rt. 1A), Narragansett.  VISITING HOURS Wednesday from 10am-12pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 931 Jefferson Blvd., Suite 3004, Warwick, RI 02886.
