James Michael Schewe

67, of Jamestown passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024. Jim was suffering from recent heart issues that resulted in unexpected complications.

He was the husband of Donna Repko. Born in Albany, NY, he was a son of Charles and Nancy E. (Hood) Schewe.

Jim was a graduate of Vincentian Institute. He received his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from SUNY Binghamton and a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from the University of Virginia.

His intelligence and magnetic personality propelled him through a successful career in Manhattan as an investment banker, working with Citibank, Lazard Freres and Mitsubishi Financial Group.

He took the get-out-of-work-early-card, retiring in 2004 at the age of 48 and moved to Jupiter, Florida. Jim started visiting Jamestown in 2006 and found a new family of friends.  Since Donna retired in 2021, they have made Jamestown their permanent home.  With his distinctive ponytail, bright smile and buoyant personality, Jim made a memorable impression upon everyone he met. He enjoyed cycling, golfing, traveling, solving sudoku puzzles, and sharing good wine with family and friends.

Besides his wife, he leaves three brothers, Chip (Daria) Schewe, John (Laura Sampson) Schewe, Joe (Maureen Hogan) Schewe; a sister-in-law, Amy Schewe; and many nephews, nieces and their families. He was predeceased by his sister Nancy Schewe Early, brother Eric Schewe, and brother-in-law Joe Early.

Along with his Schewe, Repko and Jamestown families, Jim leaves his Tau Alpha Upsilon brothers that have been dearest friends since their SUNY Binghamton days together. These brothers have supported not only each other but many charitable causes.

A memorial and celebration of life will take place in June. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105 or World Central Kitchen, Attn: Donor Services Team, PO Box 96538, Washington DC  20090-6538.
