Josephine Carnevale

September 26, 1930 — February 3, 2024

Josephine Carnevale

93, of Johnston, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the Morgan Health Center in Johnston. She was the wife of the late Edward Carnevale. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Michele and Anastasia (del Monaco) Martinelli, both of Campania, Italy. Josephine (Jo) was employed for many years at Norton Manufacturing in Johnston until her retirement.

Jo is survived by her daughters, Donna (Edward) Nardone and Lynn Carnevale, both of Johnston and she forever remembered her son, Edward Carnevale, who preceded her in death. Her legacy lives on through six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, a testament to the love and warmth she brought to her family.

Jo was no stranger to adventure. A cross-country move to California with her family in her youth left a lasting impact on her spirited nature, and she repeated the trip west and back to Rhode Island a few years later, taking in all the sites along the way. Later in life, she lived briefly in Arizona after her retirement. She also made several trips to Florida, spending quality time with her son Ed. Even in her 90s, Jo stayed active, enjoying long walks in the park, a regular at Johnston Memorial, and outings with family, proving that age is just a number. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Saturday, February 17, from 9 to 10 a.m., followed by a service at St. Robert Bellarmine Church in Johnston at 11. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in Jo's memory.
