Louis L. Vinagro, Jr.

Louis L. Vinagro, Jr., 66, the “Dean of Demo”, “Captain America”, pig farmer, entrepreneur, innovator, and environmental maniac of Johnston, passed away on Friday, March 9,2018 in Fountain Hills, Arizona surrounded by family, in peace, with no regrets.

Louis left a substantial legacy. He was conceived on a cow farm, born on a pig farm, raised on trash, and graduated in recycling. He dedicated his life to the promotion and development of recycling and other sustainable systems and technology. He was an innovator in the recycling industry, and pioneer in the commoditizing of construction and demolition waste. He essentially invented an industry which still flourishes today. Colorful, hardworking, and brilliant, he carved an indelible mark on the world. A man ahead of his time, who had the vision and foresight of a cleaner and brighter future. He is in the ever after, no doubt with a long list of ideas on how to improve Paradise.

Louis lived for adventure, whether it was riding his motorcycle, driving his horse and buggy through town, or working out with Arnold. In every room he entered, his presence was always felt. He captivated audiences with his storytelling. Louis had a big heart. His generosity knew no bounds, when the town of Johnston needed, he always answered the call.

Although he lived less than average life span, Louis did not live an average or ordinary life.  He traveled where he wanted to travel, laughed inappropriately at every chance, learned what he wanted to learn, fixed what he wanted to fix, and never stopped fighting for what was right. Even in death, he made front page news.

Louis was born in Providence, RI to Angelina (Vevish) and the late Louis Vinagro, Sr. on November 6, 1951. Besides his mother, he is survived by his four children: Jerome Vinagro and his wife, Sarah, of Peoria, Arizona, Louis Vinagro, III and his wife, Maria, of Foster, Rhode Island, Lauren and her husband, Scott MacGregor Lang of Bentonville, Arkansas, and Sherry Vinagro of Johnston, Rhode Island. He was an adored grandfather to Koby Babcock, Frank Vinagro, Louis Vinagro, IV, Grace Vinagro, Arrico Vinagro, and David Lang. Louis was also a cherished brother to Ann Marie DeCesare, Joseph Vinagro, Joanne Bromley of Johnston, Rhode Island, and Anthony Vinagro of North Scituate, RI.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Vinagro, Anthony Vinagro, Jerome Vinagro, Joseph R. Vinagro, Louis Vinagro, III, and Scott MacGregor Lang.

His funeral will be held on Saturday at 8:30am from the Nardolillo Funeral Home & Crematory1278 Park Ave., Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph's Church, Danielson Pike , Scituate at 10am.  Burial will follow at Saint Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston, RI. VISITING HOURS FRIDAY 4-8pm.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Rifle Association.  The family of Louis wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Messinger Mortuaries of Fountain Hills, Arizona for accommodating our wishes, as well as Hospice of the Valley for their extraordinary care provided.
