88, of Cranston passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving daughters. She was the wife of the late Leonard “Clyde” Burns.
Born in Endicott, NY, she was the daughter of the late Gerardo and Michelina (Gammardella) Palombo.
She graduated from Cranston High School and was a member of the National Honor Society.
Mrs. Burns was a secretary at the Alpine Country Club for many years. She worked at Filene’s and then Macy’s retiring at 80.
An active communicant of Immaculate Conception Church, she served as a lector and was a member of the rosary and altar sodality. She enjoyed shopping, cooking and a good martini. Maria was always the life of the party.
She was the mother of the late Donna M Salvatore formerly of Warwick. She leaves two daughters, Jeanne Archer and her husband Bill of Heathrow, FL and Rebecca Castriotta and her husband Victor of Cranston; seven grandchildren, Jenifer Salvatore, Melissa Salvatore, Christina Castriotta, Lindsay Rodriguez, Alyssa Lang, Vittorio Castriotta III and Nicholas Castriotta; and nine great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Mario, Paul, Richard and William Palombo.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 9am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Immaculate Conception Church, 237 Garden Hills Drive, Cranston. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery. VISITING HOURS Friday from 4-7pm.
