Maria "Elsie" (Dos Santos) Cote

92 of Cranston, passed away on Thursday, July 8 at the HopeHealth Philip Hulitar Hospice Center with her daughter by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late William R. “Bill” Cote, devoted daughter of the late John and Eugenia Dos Santos, and the dear sister of the late Manuel “Manny” Dos Santos. Maria was born in Lisbon, Portugal and moved to Providence, RI with her family at age 16. In her early years, Maria worked in the jewelry industry before marrying Bill in 1953. In 1965, Maria moved to Cranston where she would happily reside for the rest of her days. Shortly after the move, Maria entered the medical field as a nurse for terminally ill patients at the Rhode Island Medical center. Maria loved caring for and helping those in need in any way she could. Her greatest joys in life were spending time with her family, shopping at Filenes with her best friend, hugging her cat “Billie”, and of course, listening to Engelbert! Maria will be remembered best for being a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her grandson Charles Imondi and his wife Kelley Imondi, as well as her daughter Nancy Marie Cote and fiance, Cliff Pickett.

Her funeral will be held Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 9am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in Immaculate Conception Church located at 237 Garden Hills Dr, Cranston, RI. Burial will follow at RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.  Memorial donations may be made to the HopeHealth Hospice, 1085 N. Main St, Providence, RI 02904.
