Marie A. Cahill

Marie A. (Bessacini) Cahill,90 passed away Tuesday June 14, 2022 with her family by her side. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Michael A. Bessacini and the late Agnes Donahue. She was the devoted wife of the late Roy H. Cahill; they were married for 59 years before his passing in 2015.

Marie was employed by the City of Cranston as a crossing guard for many years. She was very family oriented; her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her greatest joy. She and her late husband Roy would often take her grandson on long road trips, often taking the longest route just for the ride or even a spontaneous trip to New Hampshire for a cup of coffee. She was known for always bringing the largest party pizza to the birthday parties and making sure that her great grandchildren had a sweet treat. The other task that she always took care of was the yearly Christmas time search for Hess trucks. Marie loved to spend quality time with her best friend and sister Millie. They even worked their first job together at Gorham Silver, Marie was a telephone operator and receptionist. The two met their husbands while working here, the couples could often be found dancing at Washington Park or the Rhodes on the Pawtuxet and renting cottages on Roy Carpenter Beach.

She was the beloved mother of Stephen M Cahill and his wife Gloria of Cranston. She was the devoted and loving grandmother of Christopher Cahill and his wife Hope and step-grandchildren Sarah and Antonia DelSanto. She was the beloved great grandmother of Nolan and Katelyn Cahill, Madison and Daniel Etchells. She was the loving sister of Camilla Martin and the late Michael A. Bessacini, Jr. She leaves several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral service will be held Saturday June 18, 2022 at 11:00am at the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston. Burial will follow at St. Ann Cemetery. VISTING HOURS are from 9:30-10:30am. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Gloria Gemma Foundation 249 Roosevelt Ave., Suit 201, Pawtucket, RI 02860.
