Mary Canning Obituary
62 of Narragansett, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2022 after a fourteen year courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Brian Canning for twenty-nine years.
Born in Portland, ME, she was a daughter of the late John F. “Jack” and Anne (Casey) Haley.
Katie was a registered nurse for forty years, receiving her nursing degree from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Portland.
She enjoyed skiing and spending winters at Sugar Loaf in Maine.
Besides her husband, she leaves behind her siblings, Jack Haley (Anne) of Palm Beach, FL, Anne-Marie Haley of South Portland, ME, Julie Cairns (Peter) of Saco, ME and Janet Dubow (Scott) of Wakefield, MA; brother and sister-in-law, Jamer and Lee Breene of Bedford, NY; and her nieces and nephews, Megan, Emily, Jack, Alex, Molly and Cody.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 11am in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 864 Point Judith Road, Narragansett. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Katie’s name may be made to the charity of your choosing.
