PeggyAnn Carr Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of PeggyAnn M. Carr, 75, of Cranston, RI, announce her passing on Monday March 13, 2023.

After a 2-year battle with Cancer, Peggy passed away at home surrounded by her three children, her eldest granddaughter, and her dog Monte.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 37 years, John “Jack” F.  Carr.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Vincent J. and Antonetta “Etta” (Marinaccio) Florio. She is survived by her children and their spouses; CherieAnn and John Bordieri Jr. of Cranston, Tiffany Carr and Todd Siniscalchi of Warwick and John M. and Alisha Carr of Cranston, her grandchildren; Tyler and Kyle Ferreira, Jared and Aliza Siniscalchi, Kennedy and Capri Carr and her great granddaughter Ellie Grace Siniscalchi.

After graduating from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1967, Peggy attended cosmetology school.  She then worked as a Bookkeeper for Independent Glass, where she met her husband, and later became a full-time mother.  When her children had grown, she worked as a Head Cook for the Providence School Department and the State of Rhode Island, holding positions at several schools as well as URI, RI Veterans Home, and the RI Training School.  Peggy retired from the State of Rhode Island in 2011 and began working part time at Target, a job she truly enjoyed in the later years of her life.

Peggy was a dancer for over 20 years with the Near East Dance Theatre of New England.  She was happiest when spending time with her family.  She valued family traditions and spent many holidays baking with her kids and grandkids, making recipes that her family will continue to honor and pass down for years to come. She enjoyed the beach, bowling, dancing, singing, traveling, playing bingo and going to the casino. She also enjoyed having breakfast while playing Keno at Harriet’s Kitchen. Peggy was a longtime parishioner at St. Matthews’s Church in Cranston.

Peggy was the dear sister of the late Vincent A. (Emma Jane) Florio, and the late Anthony Florio. Sister-in-law to Charles “Chuck” (Theresa) Carr and the late Robert “Bobby” (Nancy) Carr.  She also leaves behind a niece, nephews, and great nieces & nephews who will remember her fondly.
