Ramon Zorabedian

88, of East Greenwich, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 8, 2024, surrounded by his loving daughters.  He was the beloved husband for fifty-three years of the late Sonia E. (Kizirian) Zorabedian.

Born in Havana, Cuba, he was the son of the late Barsam and Margaret (Keshishian) Zorabedian.

He was a proud United States Army Veteran.

Mr. Zorabedian immigrated to the United States from Cuba as a young adult.  Soon after arriving in the United States, he settled in Rhode Island and began working in a jewelry factory.  Through hard work and determination, Mr. Zorabedian eventually went into business for himself as a jewelry manufacturer.  With much support from his wife, he built his successful company, Ramzor, Inc, from the ground up.  After a short time in Providence, Mr. Zorabedian built his own factory in Warwick and operated his business until he retired.   

Mr. Zorabedian was an active member of Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church and served as a member of the Board of Trustees for many years.  He was dedicated to the church and helped establish the Sts. Vartanantz Church Endowment Fund.   Mr. Zorabedian was also extremely involved in multiple cultural, educational, and historic endeavors.  He was an active member of the Armenian Students Association.  He was a committee member and co-chair of the Armenian Martyrs Monument at North Burial Ground and was honored to serve as the Master of Ceremonies at multiple commemorations of the Armenian Genocide.  He helped launch the Armenian Historical Association of Rhode Island and was an Emeritus Board Member.  He took great pride in his involvement with the Armenian American Veterans Monument at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter and for years helped ensure that an annual service was held on Veterans Day.   He was also a Mason with the Adelphoi Lodge #33.

Mr. Zorabedian was devoted to his wife and family, to his friends, and to the Armenian community.  He enjoyed traveling, especially to Ogunquit, Maine with his friends and family, and doting on his grandchildren. 

He leaves his two devoted daughters, Tanya J. Garrian and her husband Greg of East Greenwich; Tara J. Zorian of Cranston; a brother, Rafael Zorabedian of Florida; and six cherished grandchildren, Alexa, Aaron, Ava, Luke, Christian, and Noah.  He was the brother of the late Rose Zorabedian.

VISITING HOURS are Saturday morning, April 13th from 9:30am-11am at Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church, 402 Broadway, Providence with a Funeral Service at 11am, followed by burial at Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sts. Vartanantz Church or to the Armenian Martyrs Monument.
