Sergeant Gino Caputo, BPD

58, of Johnston, passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2021.  He was the beloved husband of Cindy (Faiola) Caputo for 25 years.  Born in Providence, he was the cherished son of Maria (Coletta) Caputo and the late Luigi Caputo.

Besides his wife and mother, Gino is survived by his loving siblings, Aldo Caputo and his wife Carla Caputo, Roberto Caputo and his girlfriend Lori Lafazia, Rosamaria Gallucci and her husband Joseph M. Gallucci, PPD; brother and sister-in-law Anthony and Gina Zangari; mother-in-law Jo-ann Faiola and father-in-law William Faiola; nephews Michael Caputo, Vinnie Caputo and his wife Rebecca, Robby Caputo, Anthony A. Zangari; nieces Maria and Joanna Gallucci; great nephew Lorenzo Caputo.  He was the godfather of Daniel Lee, Liliana and Sophia Maggiacomo and Michael O. Difazio.

Gino was a loving husband, son, son-in-law, uncle, brother, friend and a dedicated policeman.  Gino loved his career as a policeman in the city of Barrington.  He was a Sergeant and policeman for the Barrington Police Department for 27 years.  In that time, he earned the respect of the department and town because of his excellent work ethic.  He was loved and respected by so many and will be sorely missed.  Gino was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 18 and the International Brotherhood of Police Officers Local 351.  He was a graduate of R.I. College, Classical High School and Holy Ghost School.  He was a fifth-degree black belt, also an award-winning accordion and bass player.  He enjoyed playing softball, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his wife Cindy and family.  He loved kids and was well known to all as Uncle Gino.  He worked out everyday and most referred to him as Superman! He might not have been a superhero, but in every aspect of the term, every shape and form he was a Superman!  He was loved by so many, if you were lucky to know him you knew why he was so special.  His other love was his dog Ava who passed away but for Gino she was not forgotten.

His funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Ghost Church, Providence.  Burial will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.  VISITING HOURS will be Wednesday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.
