Theresa Douglas

Theresa (Carello) Douglas, 94 of Johnston, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2022. She is survived by her husband Robert (“Bob”) Douglas, and her daughter, Annmarie Richard (John) of Smithfield, and her son Gary Douglas (Sheila) of Mesa, Arizona.

Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Carello and Madeline ( Barthelemeo) Carello of Providence; her brother John (“Jackie”) Carello; and sister Delores (Carello) Hiatt; she leaves a brother Anthony Carello of Pawtucket.

Theresa is also survived by her three grandchildren; Devin Richard of Oro Valley, Arizona; Chase Richard of Needham, MA; and Brandan Douglas of Tucson, Arizona.

Theresa and Bob were married on June 19th, 1954, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Providence. Theresa was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School, Providence and worked as both a secretary and social worker before marriage. She was a homemaker for many years before going to back to work as a central proof clerk at Rhode Island Hospital Trust Bank in Providence from 1975 until her retirement in 1999.

Theresa loved gardening and was an avid sports fan throughout her life. She was a long-time parishioner of Our Lady of Grace Church in Johnston.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday December 9, 2022, at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 1804 Atwood Avenue, Johnston at 10:00 AM.  Burial will be immediately following in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
